The MA in Aesthetics and Politics program offers a one-year degree that focuses on the multiplicity of ways in which the aesthetic and the political intertwine: from political art, to the aestheticization of politics, to phenomenological, poststructuralist, and postcolonial theories of culture, politics, and society.

The MFA In Writing housed in an arts college whose hallmark is creative experimentation, this multifaceted program is designed for advanced writers to explore many forms and styles of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, writing for performance, essay writing, criticism, translation, and hybrid composites of these. The program’s non-tracking curriculum and wide latitude allows students to extend the range of their skills and methods, and to incorporate understanding of historical, conceptual and social contexts into their writing practices.

Working with CalArts, under direction of Scott Taylor, I designed and typeset a two-sided, foldable, promotional mailer for both the MFA Writing and MA Aesthetics & Politics programs at CalArts. The mailer is sent out to prospective students and other interested institutions.

The design is typographically based to reflect the literary and intellectual motivations behind both programs. Experimental & more 'classic' typography combine to reinforce the schools intellectually artistic & explorative mentality. The amazing part of this project is that the final printed ink was a fluorescent orange that really vibrates out in daylight. My finalized PDF was unable to show the kind of color the final piece really had.
