California Institute of the Arts is composed of a community of artists who collaborate, create and learn under one roof.
CalArts is internationally renowned as one of the leading centers for undergraduate and graduate study in the performing and visual arts and in the critical study of these arts.
It was nation's first art institute to offer BFAs and MFAs in both the visual and performing arts, and today the Institute remains dedicated to training and nurturing the next generation of professional artists, fostering brilliance and innovation within the broadest context possible. Admission to CalArts is competitive and considered mainly on the basis of demonstrated talent, creativity and commitment. Other important considerations include educational records, recommendations, and artist's statement.
Working in-house at CalArts (under supervision of Scott Taylor), I created these catalogs & handbooks for students at the institute. Includes course catalog, student handbook and other collateral for students. I worked on all design, imagery & typesetting. I also had final approval on all printing related issues. Throughout the project I tried to create an interesting and 're-viewable' content. I accomplished this by including a lot of small/tucked-away tidbits for students to find over time as they continued to use and peruse the Catalogs. I worked in fact, fiction and legend in relation to the school. For the section-intros, I used imagery/text relavent to each individual section. This gave every school a unique but unified look.
The materials were used by students in the 2008-2009 school year.
